For 25 years, the Claud H. Gilmer Memorial Library has served as a place where education, opportunity, and community come together. Created through great vision and a commitment to shared resources, our combined school and public library proudly serves the students and staff of Rocksprings Independent School District and the residents of Rocksprings and Edwards County.

Because our community is rural, remote, and unlike any other, the library’s role extends far beyond books. We provide materials, technology, programs, services, and welcoming spaces for residents of all ages, as well as long-term visitors and frequent guests to our area.

This unique partnership has created a lasting legacy, one library serving an entire community from childhood through every stage of life.

Our collection includes materials selected to meet the educational, informational, and recreational needs of our community.

• Texana materials featuring Texas stories, history, records, and culture

Library patrons also have access to eBooks, digital audiobooks, subscription services, research databases, and other online learning resources. Many of these services are available through our website and can be used anywhere patrons have internet access.

The library offers comfortable seating, individual work areas, and spaces for reading, studying, meeting, and connecting. Available amenities include:

• A flexible room for distance learning, meetings, programs, and community activities

Patrons are welcome to use library computers and devices or connect their own personal devices to the library’s wireless network.

This year marked the twelfth annual release of America’s Star Libraries by the Library Journal, and the Claud H. Gilmer Memorial Library has earned the title of an American Star Library every year. Even more impressive, for the ninth year consecutively, the Claud H. Gilmer Memorial Library has earned the highest possible star rating of 5 stars! In fact, this public library has received the highest star rating in the entire state over the past twelve years!

Although the library staff play a crucial role in ensuring the library is providing services and responding to the needs of the community, it is important to understand that this is a community award that is earned by library patronage and program utilization. Without our patrons, we are just a building that houses the potential for learning and connecting.

According to the American Library Association, there are approximately 119,487 public libraries in the United States. Only 260 public libraries across the nation earned star status by the Library Journal this year and only 10 public libraries in Texas. The Gilmer Library is one of only 72 libraries to have earned this distinguished award every time since its inception. This makes the Gilmer Library's earning five stars even more impressive!
